Solvency II: a Practical Approach

Mazars Malta together with Mazars UK will be hosting a health breakfast seminar on "Solvency II: a Practical Approach".

The seminar will be held on 7th October 2014 and is targeted towards both the domestic and captive insurance market. It will specifically focus on the latest updates on Solvency II, capital modelling ORSA and Pillar III reporting. A question and answer session will follow.

The seminar is of specific interest to Directors, Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Risk Officers and Compliance Officers.

Key Speaker Profiles

Peter Gatenby, Partner

Peter leads the actuarial work of Mazars in the life, pensions and healthcare sectors. Responsible for developing the actuarial practice of Mazars on a worldwide base, Peter provides both actuarial and general management consultancy to clients.

Since joining Mazars in 2009, Peter has become a leading expert in all aspects of Solvency II and works closely with our European colleagues to provide Solvency II advice across Europe and the world.

Peter is a former member of the Council of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and is also involved in public affairs work for the actuarial profession as well as being a member of the health and care practice executive committee.

Michael Tripp, Partner

Michael is an actuary with over 35 years experience in the insurance industry gained both as a senior executive and a consultant.

From 2007 to 2013, he was Group CEO of Ecclesiastical Insurance, and before that a partner with E&Y and Watson Wyatt. In the 1990s he led GRE’s UK Personal lines business and in the 1980s its Strategic Planning activity. He Chaired Ecclesiastical Life Ltd and was a Board member of Ecclesiastical Asset Management. His main experience is the strategic leadership of insurance operations, and he has a particular interest in ERM/Operational Risk.

Currently, Deputy Chair of the Actuarial Profession’s General Insurance Board his focus now is to make sure all aspects of the actuarial contribution (e.g. pricing, underwriting, reserving, capital and risk management) contribute effectively to the governance, running and strategic development of insurance enterprises

Gez Llanaj, Director

Gez is a Director, Risk and Capital at Mazars with over 17 years of Enterprise Risk Framework and Regulatory Change Programs (Basel 2, Solvency II, ERM, GRC, Regulatory Reporting) from advisory and consulting, to design, build & implementation of enabling Risk & Regulatory technology platform deployed in banking and insurance firms of various sizes and scales across UK and Europe. He brings forward an optimal blend of experience and expertise from defining strategy, leadership, execution and delivery of Risk & Regulatory compliance programs across the business.

Currently, focused on enabling Financial Services to embed ERM/enterprise GRC and Delivery the remaining milestones of Solvency II regulatory change by adopting Risk Technology on Pillar 3 and related transformation projects that provide compliance, sustainability, and profitability going forward.
