Covid-19: list of services and shops to close

The Government of Malta has published a list of shops that need to close as from Monday 23 March 2020.

Shops that need to close are related to non-essential retail activities and shops that provide non-essential services as follows:

Shops providing non-essential retail activities:

  • Sale of clothing
  • Sportswear
  • Jewellery
  • Handbags and leather goods
  • Costume jewellery and accessories
  • Footwear
  • Non-prescription eyewear
  • Perfumeries
  • Beauty products
  • Haberdasheries
  • Soft furnishings
  • Household appliances
  • Souvenirs shops
  • Discounted items
  • Luggage
  • Toy shops
  • Hobbies
  • Furniture
  • Florists
  • Vaping shops

Shops providing non-essential services:

  • Hairdressers
  • Barbers
  • Beauticians
  • Spas
  • Nail artists and technicians
  • Tattooists

Shops caught breaching the above-mentioned measures risk a fine of €3,000.
